Terex-Cedarapids crushing and screening equipment manufactured in Cedar rapids, Iowa, USA. The name “Cedarapids” is synonymous with dependable, quality crushers and screens. Founded in 1923 as Iowa Manufacturing Company was established to provide crushing machinery that would follow the road builders across the USA. The first unit developed was the “One Piece Outfit” or “OPO”. This consisted of an overhead eccentric jaw crusher, rotary screen and bucket elevator. The OPO revolutionised the crushing and screening industry; for the first time it was possible to crush and process at the job site and to move from site to site without the problems inherent in establishing a stationery plant. The OPO grew into a wide variety of crushing units, all with an emphasis on portability. This emphasis paid off when during World War II, over 850 Model 2A two-unit plants were produced for the US military. In 1950 New Holland Equipment was purchased, adding impact crushers to the range. Continued development lead to the Commander Series Portable Plants, introduced in the early 1950’s, of which over 1000 were produced for use all over the world. El-Jay Inc. was acquired in 1976 for it’s Rollercone crushers and associated equipment. In 1985, in honour of the high reputation the trade name had come to represent the company officially became Cedarapids Inc. In 1999 Terex purchased the company from Raytheon and the name again changed to become Terex-Cedararpids. Today Terex-Cedarapids continues it’s pioneering lead offering customers a wide range of technologically advanced products
