Lombardini FOCS series are four stroke diesel engines cooled by fresh water via a heat exchanger with zinc anode protection. The original design concept of the pearlitic grey cast- iron cylinder head with integral re borable “twin” arranged liners, with cross flow intake and exhaust, has allowed the reduction of the engine length, assuring at the same time an exceptional sturdiness. The LDW 502M, which has been built with an aluminium engine block and reborable liners, is the most popular engine in its class. Excellent results have been obtained in reducing noise emissions thanks to the location of the injection system in the cylinder head, a ribbing system along the engine structure, and the complete absence of gears. The overhead camshaft is driven through a cogged belt, especially designed for heavy duty applications to ensure longevity of belt life. The lubrication system is fed by a “generator” oil pump driven directly by the crankshaft. Utilisation of newly developed and “Lombardini patented” unit type injector pumps, in place of a conventional rotary type injection system and incorporating separate injection pumps and injectors, allows the elimination of fuel pipes, and consequently provides a better injection timing and pressure, resulting in greater efficiency and increased performance advantages. The “Lombardini patented” injection system has been tested for low exhaust emission levels and FOCS engines achieved high acclaim with regard to exhaust emissions being well below the EEC requirements. The very accurate balancing of the moving components together with optimum combustion allows for low vibration levels at all engine speeds.
Lombardini CHD series are 4 stroke diesel engines, cooled by fresh water via a heat exchanger with zinc anode protection, cast-iron engine block, one piece cast-iron cylinder head reborable liners. The camshaft is located in the upper part of the crankcase to allow a reduced width in the lower area of the engine. The innovative design of the gear train, the injection system and location, and the reduced cylinder pitch, shorten the engine length. The special crankshaft balancing gives exceptionally low vibrations and ensures an excellent operational performance during use. The innovative design of the fuel injection system, as well as the utilisation of hypereutectic pistons which reduce piston slap, and a heavily constructed block, assist in greatly reducing the noise levels that are normally associated with diesel engines. individual Unit-type injectors offer high performance at all engine speeds. Compared to a conventional injection pump the injection system on the CHD Series features a one way flow and a unique delivery system that prevents unwanted variations of injection pressure and timing, ensuring maximum efficiency during combustion. Through the design of the injection and combustion system Lombardini have realised an engine that provides maximum power whilst ensuring exhaust emission are kept to an absolute minimum. All maintenance operations are made easier due to the simple construction of the product. Also, for maintenance of the injection system, it is not strictly necessary to involve the services of a pump specialist: the servicing of parts can be completed by a qualified service outlet.

Lombardini LMG Marine generator set is the result of many years of study, made after a careful market-research with boat builders and final users. The aim was to meet the needs of everyone, by making what was required by the market.Lombardini therefore produced a generator which answers the fundamental requirements of noiselessness, compactness, lightness, vibration free operation and is capable of working in high temperature environments and at large angles of inclination. A very good wave shape, as well as easy accessibility for maintenance checks, has also been achieved. Lombardini Marine, developed the silencing of the engine with a soundproof shield on the injection side, a major source of noise, and cooling the alternator with water and not air. This is why many hood opening have been eliminated and the essential combustion air enters by little holes through a labyrinth run in order to prevent the exit of noise. The low vibration level has been obtained with a double system of special rubber mounts. In order to simplify maintenance, the generator has been designed with all controls and engine parts which require routine maintenance on one side only. The generator set is supplied with a remote control box and 10 m of plug-in cable complete with hour meter. In order to avoid serious damage to the engine, a special safety shutdown device stops the engine in case of high temperature of the water cooling and low oil pressure.
