Detroit Diesel Series 40 The Series 40E is designed using the most advanced technology available today. Used in many applications such as construction, power generation, underground mining, on highway and bus applications, the Series 40 has proven to be the right engine for the job. An in-line 6 cylinder, turbocharged/air-to-air cooled 4 cycle engine, the Series 40E is available from 175 to 330 BHP in either a 7.6 or 8.7 litre version. The Series 40 E also offers single box, engine mounted electronic controls, utilizing the HEUI fuel system (Hydraulically actuated Electronically controlled Unit Injectors).
