LOG HAULERS
The first Terex Articulated Dump Truck was converted to cart full stem logs in Central North Island Forests in 1997. This 2566C is still working in this very demanding occupation. More recently, TA30 and TA40 models have been introduced to the logging industry and regularly carry payloads in excess of 70 tons. The aim of this type of operation is to reduce handling of the logs and roading costs.
The trucks are fitted with a purpose built heavy duty log bolster and tow a two-axle trailer. Logs up to 27m long are loaded on to this unit and transported off highway to a central processing site. The demands made on this type of machine are well in excess of what the truck would encounter in its normal application yet the maintenance cost remain the same.
The six wheel drive configuration makes handling the often steep logging tracks a breeze for these purpose built units.
